Why would anyone cover their skin in that? Ugh!
Look at that plate full of unrendered, straight from the butcher, animal fat!
(If you are a vegan based skin care user, I love you too! Plants are my BFF, but here are my two cents about animal fats...)
If you follow me on social media, you will see almost monthly posts about a new tallow product I have launched or a reminder to read the labels on your skin care products. But this one unique, and yes, absurd ingredient will always have me preaching to the choir.
It all started when I began hunting. Even though I am considered a rookie with only a handful of successful harvests under my belt, I knew that I wanted to utilize every aspect of that animal to its fullest leaving nothing behind. I would head out into the forest with all of the gears and gadgets any huntress could imagine, but most importantly, my gallon Ziploc baggy to hopefully stuff full of beautiful animal fat if the stars aligned!
It slowly turned into an obsession that I dug deep into. Of course, this exact same practice was used by our ancestors for their skin care, baking, and polishing leather needs. What I didn't realize was how our skin actually craves animal fat and all of the benefits that come along with the use of tallow.
With a ton of trial and error (even still to this day) the use of tallow has turned into a skill set that even my young children appreciate. Getting local grass-fed tallow from the local farmers just around the bend has made the process of turning that big blob of fat into the most soft, super absorbent moisturizer!

Let me give you a quick comparison to other products you may be familiar with....
Petroleum based skin care- ( I remember using this often in my childhood) Takes longer to absorb and leaves the skin feeling heavy. Tallow absorbs quickly into the skin delivering deep moisture.
Plant based skin products- These choices appeal to those seeking vegan options but don't offer the same fatty acids that our skin loves.
Retinol- based items- Retinol is wonderful for anti-aging and wrinkles but in return dry out your skin and leaving it at high risk of damage if exposed to sunlight. Tallow is a more skin friendly option if you're concerned about sensitivity.

With an abundance of fatty acids, protection against inflammation, rich in nutrients, and the ultimate moisturizer that is safe for everyone in your family, I am proud to take the long, time-consuming effort of transforming this ancestorial ingredient and turn it into something that you can enjoy.
